Dr Michael Flynn

Dr Michael Flynn graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School and commenced his internship at the Gold Coast Hospital.

He undertook specialist obstetric and gynaecology training both in Queensland and the United Kingdom and commenced private practice on the Gold Coast in 1998.

Dr Flynn's areas of expertise are obstetrics, laparoscopic surgery and fertility management.

Describing obstetrics as both the most stressful and most rewarding of jobs, Dr Flynn takes great pleasure in assisting couples conceive, caring for them during pregnancy and delivering their baby.

An expert in fertility management, Dr Flynn cites time spent at the "birthplace" of IVF, Bourne Hall in Cambridge UK, as a great learning experience and personal pilgrimage. He is excited about the rapid rate of advances in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technology and finds helping couples achieve their dream of having a child very satisfying.

As a specialist in laparoscopic surgery, Dr Flynn was awarded the Australian Gynaecology Endoscopy Society Travelling Fellowship in laparoscopic surgery in 2000. He believes the technique has transformed the management of women's health.

In addition to his work in private practice, Dr Flynn has co-authored, along with Urogynaecologist Dr Judith Goh, the widely popular university student text, "Examination Obstetrics and Gynaecology".

As a member of numerous medical associations including the AMA, the Fertility Society of Australia and the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society, Dr Flynn keeps up to date on new industry developments by attending conferences and scientific meetings as well as subscribing to medical journals.

Once a year, Dr Flynn travels to Papua New Guinea where he volunteers his time and expertise at the Mt Hagan Hospital delivering babies and performing surgery.

Dr Flynn was a founding partner of Fertility Gold Coast in 2000 which has since become Queensland Fertility Group Gold Coast.  He is married with three children.
