Dr Timothy O'Dowd

Dr Tim O'Dowd is one of the Gold Coast's most highly respected and sought after obstetricians and gynaecologists.

Born and educated in Ireland, Dr O'Dowd arrived in Australia as a newly qualified doctor in 1975, and became an Australian citizen in 1980.

His obstetric and gynaecology training was initially at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane (1977) and subsequently in Ireland (1981) and London (1982-85), before returning to the Mater. He gained specialist qualifications at the English college (FRCOG) and Australian and New Zealand colleges (FRANZCOG).

Dr O'Dowd set up his private O&G practice on the Gold Coast in 1987. In 2000 Dr O'Dowd, together with his colleagues, founded Fertility Gold Coast which marked a significant milestone in his working life. Fertility Gold Coast joined Queensland Fertility Group in August 2011 to become the Group's Gold Coast clinic.

With a special interest in infertility, he cites setting up the IVF clinic as a wonderful experience and is extremely proud of the standard of care offered to patients.

A member of the Australian Medical Association as well as the Fertility Society of Australia, Dr O'Dowd is also Fellow of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society and the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

An avid reader of online and paper medical journals, Dr Dowd regularly keeps up to date with scientific and technological developments in the industry. He also attends conferences and annual scientific meetings.

Dr O'Dowd is married with four children and three grandchildren. He enjoys walking, sightseeing and relaxing with good wine at North Stradbroke Island.
